Turkish Star Arda Güler Signs With Real Madrid For €20m

After announcing Jude Bellingham, Fran García, and Joselu, Real Madrid continues to get deals done. Arda Güler, one of the top prospects in the world, is signing for the La Liga giants for a reported €20 million. He will be the third Turkish international to play for the club after Nuri Şahin and Hamit Altıntop, and the first Turkish-born player.

A skillful dribbler, Arda Güler is under contract with Madrid until 2029. He will likely feature as a right winger this season as Real Madrid looks to return to the top of La Liga and Europe after a mixed season. Forwards Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Mariano Díaz, and Eden Hazard have all already left the club.

Güler was 16 when he made his debut for Fenerbahçe, coming on as a substitute in a Europa League qualifier against HJK Helsinki. Several months later, he scored his first goal, four minutes after coming on for former Real Madrid star Mesut Özil.

In the past two years, Güler has become an important part of Fenerbahçe, making 51 appearances. He helped lift the Turkish Cup this summer in his last match and leaves as one of the club’s record departures — with Madrid paying more than his release clause.

Güler has earned four caps for the Turkish senior side, and he is the youngest goalscorer in his country’s history after scoring a well-placed strike against Wales in June.
